Collagen induction therapy (CIT), also known as fractional mesotherapy, fractional mesotherapy, skin-needling or micro-needle therapy, is an advanced minimally invasive treatment for rejuvenating, lifting and stretching the skin, improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, pigment spots and scars on the face and body, including stretch marks. .
The popularity of this facial treatment has increased after a 2009 study, in which several patients followed collagen induction therapy to treat scars caused by acne, chickenpox and so on. After several sessions of fractional mesotherapy, all patients noticed a reduction in the appearance of scars and rated their treatment as “excellent”.
Also, celebrities like Kim Kardashian or Bar Rafaeli have acknowledged that the appearance of their skin is due to fractional mesotherapy. Kim Kardashian created waves online and on TV when she was filmed during the fractional mesotherapy procedure complemented by her own plasma therapy .
At the same time, this revolutionary technique, which represents the implementation of skin science, received the award for “Best Anti-Aging Device” at The Aestetic Show in Las Vegas.
Collagen induction therapy is performed with Dermapen® or Mesopen® – one of the newest medical devices available for fractional mesotherapy using the same principle as Dermapen®, but which penetrates deeper and more evenly into the skin. Globally, dermapen is considered to be the most powerful cellular stimulation device.
The device performs a controlled and precise perforation of the skin, creating microscopic lesions, micro-channels, which are invisible to the naked eye and trigger repair processes, stimulate the body to produce elastin and collagen, two vital substances for creating new cells, a process known as the name of neocolagenogenesis.
The introduction of very thin surgical needles is perceived by the receptor nerves of the skin as a stimulus, it creates a micro-trauma that induces the appearance of a self-healing phase of the body, an immune response and the production of collagen fibers. At the same time, new blood vessels are formed (neoangiogenesis), the blood supply is improved, and in this way the skin is much better nourished and oxygenated.
The skin is thus permeabilized, advanced cell regeneration occurs and mesopene creates penetration space for the cocktail with serums rich in active substances, previously mixed by the therapist, to penetrate directly into the deep layers of the skin and produce the desired clinical effect. Thus, the nutrients of medical purity penetrate the dermis up to 90% compared to 3% and restore the volume and brightness of the skin, the thickening of the skin is noticeable.
In order to optimize the effects of substances, cocktails, techniques are constantly evolving scientifically.
The discomfort is minimal, towards zero, and two weeks after the first procedure you can see the first results: a firmer, more elastic and smoother skin. Collagen induction can be performed both on the face and on the body.
Compared to other procedures, this modern non-surgical and minimally invasive facial treatment is painless, has no side effects and stimulates facial rejuvenation and skin elasticity, leading to increased cellular metabolism. In addition, it corrects the marks left by acne, relieves fine wrinkles, expression wrinkles, for a younger and brighter skin.
How does collagen induction work with Mesopen?
The length of the needles used by each device used for collagen induction may vary. The longer the needles and the deeper they penetrate the skin, the more spectacular the results will be. Both the depth and intensity of the procedure are very easy to control and are customized for each client.
At AnaZia Skin we chose to use one of the newest fractional mesotherapy devices, Mesopene MST Dermedics, because through the automatic electronic microwave system it opens hundreds of channels and thus stimulates the best results, in the shortest time, by creating evenly distributed microlesions . The needles are cut into a special, patented shape so that the caused micro-lesions close faster.
Fractional mesotherapy facial treatment works on the natural principle of encouraging the skin to produce more collagen.
The cells restored after this therapy have a better appearance, increased elasticity and support. It is absolutely normal that with age the skin loses its collagen fibers, hyaluronic acid and elastin, becoming drier. By encouraging the skin to produce new tissue, the extra production of collagen helps the skin to become firmer, even outside the treated area.
How do you feel during fractional mesotherapy treatment?
Before starting, the therapist will use a local anesthetic to reduce the chances of feeling any pain or discomfort. Fractional mesotherapy facial treatment is not painful, even if it involves needles. It is minimally invasive and is a much gentler but also less expensive option for skin with wonderful effects, compared to more aggressive facial treatments such as chemical peels, without the risk of hyper or hypopigmentation, as in the case of fractional laser. Wherever you choose to do the dermapen procedure, it is very important to make sure that the needle is sterile before it is used.
A normal reaction to collagen induction is redness on the treated area, which can persist for several days as a result of skin stimulation. Usually it disappears in 24-48 hours and healing occurs, which brings with it the first results: a brighter, firmer, brighter skin. To get truly effective results, you will need more than one treatment so as to increase the production of collagen and elastin. At the end the therapist will apply a healing cream with a high protection factor.
At AnaZia Skin we constantly monitor the patient’s comfort level during all procedures performed.
How long is a fractional mesotherapy session and how many sessions do I need?
A collagen induction session by fractional mesotherapy has a relatively short performance time, lasts about 30-40 minutes, depending on the area and skin needs. The number of sessions required can vary from person to person, but usually around 4-6 sessions are indicated every 3 weeks to achieve facial rejuvenation and a hydrated and radiant skin.
For optimal results, mesotherapy is required:
Phase 1 – Reconstruction
4 sessions every 15 days
Phase 2 – Stabilization
2 sessions, 1 session per month
Phase 3 – Maintaining results
4 sessions, 1 session at 3 months
What are the results of fractional mesotherapy facial treatment?
Collagen induction is not as invasive as plastic surgery, so recovery time is minimal. After fractional mesotherapy, the skin will begin to work to rejuvenate the new tissues. So the results, although already immediately visible, will be finalized in a few weeks.
Expect smooth, velvety skin that simply radiates. Wrinkles and scars are greatly alleviated, and all skin care products will be absorbed much better.
In order to maintain the results of the treatment, you will need several sessions and possibly other complementary treatments. The results are gradually seen and consolidated with each meeting; that is why it is important to follow the interval recommended by AnaZia Beauty specialists.
Fractional mesotherapy gives wonderful results as a single treatment, but if combined with complementary procedures, the results are truly spectacular. Depending on the needs of your skin, collagen induction can be combined with your own plasma therapy, following the model of celebrities, or with radiofrequency .
To maintain the results obtained, a maintenance treatment once a month is recommended.
* The results may vary depending on the individual characteristics and lifestyle of each patient.
What are the directions after?
After the collagen induction procedure, for 12 to 48 hours you will be red and slightly swollen and you may also have minimal points of bleeding or bruising.
The inflammatory reaction of the skin is short-lived and changes within a few hours of redness, because the microinjections produced by the needles close in 2-3 hours after the procedure.
Makeup is allowed the next day.
In a week you will notice that the skin is smoother and brighter and wrinkles and scars have visibly diminished.
The final effects appear 2-3 months after the procedure.
How long does the effect last?
Depending on the needs of your skin, for long-term results, we recommend 4 – 6 fractional mesotherapy sessions every 3 weeks.
To maintain the results you can repeat the treatment twice a year.
To correct post-acne scars, a minimum of 6 sessions are required.
Tip: take supplements with vitamins A and C 1 month before treatment to stimulate increased collagen production.
What are the contraindications of the fractional mesotherapy procedure
Collagen induction is prohibited for people who suffer from psoriasis, eczema or have open wounds or who are receiving radiation treatment. Also, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding cannot benefit from this treatment. It is neither recommended to people with keloid or hypertrophic scars, infections and inflammations, chronical skin conditions or who had isotretinoin treatment in the last 3 months.
The rest of the contraindications will be discussed with the therapist before performing the treatment.
Is collagen induction by fractional mesotherapy safe?
Fractional mesotherapy is safe and effective, with no harmful effects on health, no risks if performed by a trained person or a doctor. The mesopene needle used for fractional mesotherapy is disposable, of course, eliminates the risk of infection and the therapy is done in a sterile and controlled environment.
It is not recommended to use non-professional fractional mesotherapy devices at home, because without the right environment, without the necessary experience and knowledge, the results may not be as expected at all.
Immediately after the procedure, you may feel your treated skin warm, as if it is squeezing you or you may feel itchy. This inflammatory skin reaction disappears after a few days, depending on the skin. Patients with sensitive or older skin may need a week to fully recover, but otherwise post-procedure recovery is extremely rapid. It is recommended to have clean hands after fractional mesotherapy treatment when you touch your treated areas and not to use makeup or other cosmetics for 24 hours.
It is absolutely mandatory to avoid direct sun exposure for one week after treatment. It is also mandatory to apply daily cream with sun protection factor 50+ and recommended to use dermato-cosmetic products with epidermal growth factors with formulas of nano-encapsulated substances, specially created to be applied after these types of facial treatments. Our staff can recommend the most suitable product. Any cream or treatment you apply on the treated area immediately after micro-needling, will penetrate much deeper into the skin and will have a much stronger action, so it is recommended to use masks and serums at home in the next period.
